Job Summary:
JB Hooks is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and results-oriented individual with a proven track record of success in managing restaurant operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and driving profitability. As the Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operational Management:
- Oversee front-of-house operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
- Manage opening and/or closing procedures.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards throughout the restaurant.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise restaurant staff, including servers, bartenders, bussers and hosts.
- Develop staff schedules and manage labor costs effectively.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Address employee performance issues and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Motivate and inspire the team to achieve high levels of performance and customer satisfaction.
- Financial Management:
- Monitor and analyze sales and labor data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Implement strategies to increase revenue and average check size.
- Ensure accurate cash handling and daily reconciliation.
- Work with ownership on financial reporting and goal setting.
- Guest Experience:
- Ensure that all guests receive exceptional service and have a positive dining experience.
- Lead by example in providing excellent customer service.
- Respond promptly and effectively to guest feedback and resolve issues.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the restaurant industry, with at least 2 years in a management role.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house procedures.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in restaurant management software and POS systems.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree in hospitality or restaurant management or a related field is a plus.
