Job Description: Hotel Controller
Overview:
This position is responsible for the overall Accounting Department and assisting the General Manager with cash management and cost controls.
Responsibilities
- Must have a strong background in all accounting related functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, Bank Reconciliations, and General Ledger Journal Entries.
- Reviews monthly and quarterly financial statements (Income Statement and Balance Sheet) using analytical procedures and inquiries.
- Oversee the payroll function and have a working knowledge of payroll taxes and related tax filings.
- Reviews daily operating report and assists with the forecasting of monthly financial information.
- Adhere to established department and property policies and procedures regarding guest service standards.
- Coach, monitor, and develop team members for improved performance.
- Ensure financial statements and account reconciliations are prepared timely and accurately.
- Reviews general ledger accounts and activity for trends and errors.
- Assists in the preparation of the annual budget.
- Facilitates department reviews of monthly financial statements and ensures variances are addressed.
- Review controls and procedures for the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual corporate schedules and monthly financial statements ensuring all expenses and revenues are appropriately captured.
- Maintain knowledge of the general ledger system for daily, month-end, and annual procedures.
- Supervise journal posting and financial statement distribution.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge and Skills
Excellent communication skills.
Superior computer skills, particularly MS Excel and Accounting Software.
M3 Accounting system knowledge is a plus.

Required Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
Minimum 5 years supervisory and/or managerial experience in Financial Accounting.
