Berger’s Marina is a family-owned and operated full-service marina proudly serving the Lake of the Ozarks community since 1983. As a premier Mercruiser and Mercury dealership, we specialize in high-quality boat service, repairs, and customer care in one of the Midwest’s premier boating destinations. We’re growing our service department and looking for a motivated Marine Service Technician to join our close-knit team!
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable, hands-on technician to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on recreational boats. Our work focuses primarily on stern drive systems, with an increasing volume of outboard engine service. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys mechanical work, problem-solving, and being on or around the water.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair marine engines, stern drives, outboards, and related systems (lower units, propellers, rigging, etc.)
- Perform routine maintenance services (oil changes, tune-ups, winterizations, impeller replacements)
- Troubleshoot electrical, fuel, and cooling systems
- Install accessories and make upgrades as needed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Provide friendly, professional service to our valued customers
Qualifications
- Experience is preferred (at least 2 years in marine, automotive, small engine, or heavy equipment repair is a big plus), but we are willing to train the right motivated individual with mechanical aptitude
- Familiarity with stern drive and/or outboard engines is ideal, but not required
- Certifications (e.g., Mercury or manufacturer-specific training) are a strong advantage but not mandatory
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and Missouri Boater Education Card (boater safety certification)
- Must be able to work weekends (marina hours include peak weekend/boating season coverage)
- Strong attention to detail, good problem-solving skills, and a positive attitude
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Team player who takes pride in quality workmanship
- Technicians are responsible for providing their own tools
