Material Handling Supervisor
Overview

We’re currently seeking a Material Handling Supervisor to oversee the receiving and storage of raw materials, the safe transfer of raw materials to production and the accurate gathering of completed lift kits and spare parts for shipping to dealers throughout the United States in our plant in Camdenton, MO. This proven leader will coordinate the plant’s material handling processes to ensure timely support of the Company production needs, accurate counts of the Company’s inventory SKUs and to meet customer expectations of complete and accurate product shipments. The ideal candidate will be exceptionally detail oriented and able to lead a team, serving as liaison between material handling employees, scheduling personnel, and plant management. This person must be dedicated to achieving operational excellence and have a genuine interest in helping the company succeed. This is a shop floor position and, since the Company’s business is seasonal, overtime may be required during the busy season, which runs from approximately March through July.
Objectives of this role
- Identify and implement strategic improvements for raw material receiving, shipping of work-in-process to galvanizing suppliers, and the shipment of finished products to dealers on a timely basis in alignment with promised delivery dates.
- Work with fellow employees to ensure complete and accurate bills of material.
- Collaborate with management, company ownership and team members in the implementation of value-added process improvements.
- Investigate and implement innovative material handling processes to reduce material shrinkage and waste and ensure product quality and shipping accuracy.
- Work with the Company’s in-house trucking team and third-party trucking firms to minimize shipping costs while ensuring the timely delivery of the Company’s product to dealers.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the department’s safety practices and standards meet or exceed all regulatory and insurance requirements.
- Oversee the shipping and receiving department personnel to help the department achieve its goal of completely accurate shipment of lift kits to customers packaged in a safe and efficient manner.
- Assist in the management of materials replenishment, quality standards, and performance metrics in support of organizational goals and objectives.
- Create documentation protocols and ensure that all records of receipts and shipments are properly maintained and reviewed.
Required skills and qualifications
- Ten or more years of experience in logistics or material handling operations
- Proven skills in leadership and supervision
- Demonstrated understanding of bills of material
Preferred skills and qualifications
- High school diploma
- Previous experience with automated MRP systems
