Stark Caverns is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join their team as Tour Guides for the summer season! If you’re passionate about nature, caves, and education, this opportunity might be perfect for you. Here are the details:
- Job Description:
- Guiding Cave Tours: You’ll lead approximately one-hour cave tours through Stark Caverns, sharing fascinating information about the cave’s history, formations, minerals, and friendly cave critters.
- Guest Interaction: Interact with visitors in the Visitor Center and on the grounds.
- Maintenance: Perform daily cleaning and upkeep of the Visitor Center and grounds.
- Special Events: Assist with on-site events such as fairs, educational programs, parties, and concerts.
- Qualifications:
- Passion for Nature and Conservation: An enthusiastic interest in nature, caves, and conservation.
- Hospitality and Guiding Experience: Previous experience in hospitality, guiding, or theater is a plus.
- Adaptability: Ability to learn and comfortably lead various types of tours (Regular Tour, Black Light, Escape Room, and Seasonal Special Tours).
- Effective Communication: Learn quickly and present scripted tours consistently, providing historical and educational facts.
- Engagement and Leadership: Be engaging with guests, genuine, and able to lead groups of up to 25 people.
- Physical Requirements: Hike 4 or more miles a day in the 57-degree cave environment, climb/navigate stairs, lift 25 lbs., work in cave environment, and stand for extended periods.
